The Chair of the IFA in Monaghan says it would be wrong if Irish farmers were forced to reduce the amount of food they're producing as part of efforts to cut carbon emissions.
A report published by the Environmental Protection Agency, Met Éireann and the Marine Institute yesterday showed global climate change is having a clear effect on our environment here.
It showed Ireland's carbon emissions were at their highest level ever seen in 2019.
Patrick McCormack from the IFA says cutting food production here would only lead to an increase in other parts of the world, some of which do not produce food as efficiently as Ireland does.
