Local community groups are being encouraged to apply for funding that will support them in delivering educational courses to disadvantaged learners.
€10 million in funding is being made available nationwide through local Education and Training Boards, as part of this year’s Mitigating Educational Disadvantage Fund.
An online information session for interested community and youth service groups in the Northern Sound region will be hosted by the CMETB on the 30th of August.
It’s intended to increase the capacity of community and youth education providers and to address the decline of disadvantaged learners enrolling in literacy and basic skills programmes.
There is also a focus on building the digital infrastructure of providers and their capability to provide online learning or blended learning.
Application forms can be found on the websites of local ETBs, and applications must be submitted by Friday, September 10th.
