Mountnugent man Bob Gillbert is a proud member of the Cavan Older People's Council who are putting on a one-act play titled - Ages and Stages. The show will be performed at the Town Hall in Cavan tonight, Tuesday the 14th of November and tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th of November at 8pm.The play deals with various aspects of growing old, and highlights some of the issues that older people face.
Speaking to Northern Sound about the upcoming event, Bob described the experience of getting to opening night as "brilliant" adding that there are people involved in the show who have never been on stage before in their lives. The local man hopes this example can show people that it is "never too late" or that you are "never too old" to try something new.
Mr Gillbert said it's his ambition in life to "help people" and that his involvement with the group over the past 15 years has allowed him to do that having learned "a lot" about older people's issues and dealing with them. He added; "Through this play, we as a group are trying to combat ageism by highlighting that you're never too old to try anything new and that there's no such thing as being too old."
