A local Green Party representative says the party were on the wrong side of the Mother and Baby Homes Bill.
The controversial Bill was signed into law last week and sealed an archive on the institutions for 30 years.
However, the Government has since announced a u-turn in allowing the victims to access their personal records, provided it doesn't infringe on the rights of others.
Tate Donnelly says it was a "poor piece of legislation" and the Green Party has suffered for supporting it.
He also expressed disappointment in Roderic O'Gorman's handling of the issue.
