A local Green Party representative has offered his backing to Hazel Chu, who is facing a vote of no confidence.
Dublin Lord Mayor Hazel Chu is the Chairperson of the Green Party, but has come under criticism for running in the Seanad by-elections, despite the Party voting not to run a candidate.
Ms Chu will run as independent candidate after receiving enough nominations, including from the Green deputy leader Catherine Martin.
The vote of no confidence scheduled to be heard tonight could be replaced with a request to stand aside for the duration of the by-election.
