Local Green Party rep hopes local artists will apply for basic payment scheme

A local Green Party representative says he hopes artists from Cavan and Monaghan will be included in the new basic payment scheme.

This week, Arts Minister Catherine Martin launched the pilot project that will see 2,000 artists paid 325 euro per week for three years.

The basic payment aims to reduce the constant level of uncertainty felt by many in the sector.

Applications to be considered for inclusion open next Tuesday.

Cavan-Monaghan Green Party representative Tate Donnelly said it is designed to be an inclusive scheme.
