Gardaí in Cavan and Monaghan are warning against a new spyware software affecting Android phones.
"FluBot" is claimed to have the potential to allow criminals steal passwords, or financial and personal information from mobile devices.
Local Gardaí say it typically makes its way onto the phone if someone download files accessible from a link sent in a text message acting to be from a courier.
Anyone who receives such a text is asked to not engage, delete it, and only check expected deliveries through the carrier's website.
Crime Prevention Officer with Monaghan Gardaí, Sergeant Mick Duffy has this warning about ongoing scams.
