Local Gardaí have issued a warning after fake detectives show up to people's homes.
A neighbouring Garda Division is investigating two recent incidents where two men called to elderly resident's homes impersonating detectives and carrying false Garda badges.
They showed the victims a sum of money which they claimed belonged to the elderly person but they needed to compare it with other money they may have before returning it.

Gardaí in Cavan and Monaghan are reminding people that criminals don't care about divisional boundaries and similar crimes have happened here recently.
They are reiterating the need to be vigilant and not open the door to anyone before establishing who they are.
