A local fire chief has issued a warning to parents and children who are considering buying fireworks this Halloween.
Noel O'Reilly Chief Fire Officer with Cavan County Fire Service advises people to only purchase legal fireworks from reputable suppliers since illegal products don't meet the necessary safety standards. Mr O'Reilly said the injuries caused by illegal fireworks or unsafe bonfires can be "truly horrific" and "more frightening than any Hallowe'en movie" and urged parents to pass the safety message onto their children this bank holiday.
