A number of young finalists from the Northern Sound region are currently competing at the WorldSkills Ireland event. The event which is held in the RDS is dedicated to promoting skills, apprenticeship careers, and workplace opportunities for young people. Set to welcome over 27,000 people including students, parents and teachers, the event will be a celebration of apprenticeships, skills and careers with interactive demonstrations, career zones and employers who are ready to recruit.
Across the three days three students and apprentices from Cavan and Monaghan will put their talents and knowledge to the test, when they compete against their peers on the national stage during the live competitions taking place at the event.
Those competing from Co Cavan include: Katie O’Connell who is competing in the Metal Fabrication competition and Dylan Finnegan and Callum Shiel who are both competing in the Sheetmetal competition. Those competing from Co Monaghan include Ciaran Martin, competing in the Automobile Technology competition, Kevin Kelly, competing in Craft Butchery, Timothy Persse, competing in Industrial Mechanics, Richard McElwaine, competing in Joinery and Jordan Reinhardt McCabe, competing in Sheetmetal.
