A local Fianna Fail TD says food production mustn't be compromised to meet carbon targets.
New carbon budgets were announced on Monday, spelling out a 4.8 per cent annual drop in emissions out to 2025.
Junior Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon said Ireland can meet the targets without a reduction in the national herd.
Fianna Fail TD for Cavan-Monaghan, and former Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith told The Joe Finnegan Show that there has been ongoing research to improve farming emissions.
