A local Fianna Fáil Councillor says the next party leader should come from Dublin.
Micheál Martin has been under pressure from some backbench Fianna Fáil TDs to give up the party leadership when he steps down from his role as Taoiseach at the end of the year.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Clifford Kelly echoed calls from ex-Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry, who said the next leader needs to come from the capital because of the number of seats it has in the Greater Dublin area.
While Cllr Kelly described Micheál Martin as an "exceptional leader", he added that the Taoiseach has faced "difficulties" in the current coalition government and said it would be good to have the leader of the party in the capital:
