Local farmers are being urged to ensure they’ve contingency plans if they contract Covid-19.
Gerard Sherlock is a dairy farmer in Tydavnet who recently got the virus, and had to rely on family members to do the milking for a number of days.
Teagasc advises that every farmer should have three people they can call on, if relief is needed on the farm in the case of an emergency.
There are also schemes available that can provide farmers with assistance if they can’t operate a farm because of Covid.
Gerard told the Joe Finnegan Show that not everyone is as lucky as him to be able to rely on family who are trained up.
