Local farmers have been involved in phase 2 of the IFA's 'Enough is Enough' campaign at Monaghan County Council earlier today.
Dozens of farmers gathered to highlight their frustration and anger with the political system. Met by local representatives, members of the protest addressed the Council Meeting and called for the local authority members to pass a motion of support.
The IFA are continuing to highlight farmers' frustration and anger with the political system by targeting County Council meetings around the country. According to Frank Brady Farmers are sick of regulations imposed on them at European, National and County Council level, adding that these are adding extra costs at a time when the cost of doing business has rocketed.
He says there has been no additional support for farmers with our CAP payments being repurposed towards environmental measures rather than food production. Mr Brady says farming isn't a viable option at present and younger people are looking away from the sector,
