A resolution was passed at the Cavan County Council monthly meeting yesterday that recognises the "significant contribution" of farmers to the Irish economy.
Members of the Cavan branch of the IFA gathered at Cavan Courthouse in Cavan ahead of the meeting.
This coming together was part of the IFA's 'Enough is Enough' campaign, and saw up on 40 farmers joined by the Cavan IFA county chair Maurice Brady and Frank Brady, the regional chair for Ulster/North Leinster. A similar gathering was held in Monaghan last week at the local authority meeting there too.
Over 25% of the working population are involved in Agri-related jobs in Cavan according to the IFA. The IFA are continuing to highlight farmers' frustration and anger with the political system by targeting County Council meetings around the country.
Maurice Brady from the IFA branch in Cavan says he wants the local council members to listen to farmers and voice their concerns.
