A Monaghan Senator has met with a group of farm contractors over concerns about the future of their businesses.
Robbie Gallagher, says contractors are fearful that their work will grind to a halt and their machinery will not leave their yards this spring.
AMr Gallagher has called on the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to come before Leinster House to discuss matters further.
He believes without the contracting sector, local farm families would simply not continue to exist.
