The wife of the late Scotshouse native Robert Hall and their son has thanked everyone who donated to their recent fundraising efforts for Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care fund.
The fundraiser was the late Robert Hall's idea and the cheque presentation was postponed due to his untimely sudden passing in early July.
The presentation of the €14,000 to the palliative care fund was made this week and was dedicated to the memory of Robert. The family auctioned a purebred Aberdeen Angus cow in Ballyjamesduff Mart in March of this year with all proceeds going to Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care.
At that time, speaking to Northern Sound, Robert said this was a way to give back to the local charity that have done wonderful work for the last 30 years. Laura Hall said a debt of gratitude is owed to Ballyjamesduff Mart for auctioning the Aberdeen Angus four-year-old cow, who was a second calver at the time of her sale. John Smith from Oldcastle ensured that the cow was looking her best before going into the auction ring.
The cow raised €1,990 at auction, when she was purchased by Colin McArdle, Brackley Farm, Lough Egish. The cow has since had a bull calf. The total raised by the auction and the generosity of all the people who made donations amounted to no less than €14,000. The Hall family would like to pay tribute to Jimmy O’Donnell and the Palliative Care Team for the wonderful work they do on an ongoing basis and appreciation was also paid to local media including the Anglo Celt, Northern Sound and Northern Stannard.
