Deputy Matt Carthy described the number of social homes delivered locally as 'pathetic'.

Some local General Election candidates have clashed over the Government's record on housing.

125,000 homes have been delivered throughout the life time of the government across the country since 2020.

Deputy Niamh Smyth said that in total up on 1200 social homes have been delivered across Cavan and Monaghan over that period. She said that there is a number of initiatives that assist people an opportunity to own their own home.

The Fianna Fail TD said that the Croí Cónaithe scheme has been transformative giving people up to 70k to restore derelict houses into forever homes. Deputy Matt Carthy described the number of social homes delivered locally as 'pathetic'.

Deputy Smyth great strides were being made by Fianna Fail when it comes to housing.
