287 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the Northern Sound region yesterday.
Monaghan remains the county with the highest 14-day incidence rate in the country as concerns grow over the high transmission rates.
The two local counties have seen increasing rates of Covid transmission over the Christmas period.
The daily release from the Department of Health yesterday showed 178 new cases of the virus in Monaghan.
Cavan meanwhile recorded 109 cases.
Both counties have above average 14-day incidence rates.
Monaghan's is the highest in the country at 1,060 cases per 100,000. Cavan's stands at 593 - the sixth highest rate.
The Northern Sound region has recorded 1,103 cases over the past two weeks.
