Staff from Cavan and Monaghan County Councils and local fire crew have responded to as many as 30 call-outs today as Storm Debi took hold on the region this morning. A spokesperson for Cavan County Council told Northern Sound the local fire service attended 25 calls between 06:30 and 10:30 this morning while 32 calls were logged with the Emergency Response Coordination Centre.
The official figure for the number of fallen trees in County Monaghan stands at 24 this evening. 14 fallen trees, causing obstructions were dealt with in the Carrickmacross / Castleblayney Municipal District and 5 in the Ballybay / Clones area. They also dealt with 4 incidents of flooding in the county. And in County Cavan, staff there dealt with 12 fallen trees, 1 fallen telecom pole and 3 incidents of flooding.

According to the most recent updates from the Monaghan and Cavan County Councils all fallen trees have been removed and roads re-opened. In areas where flooding was causing a disruption, roads are being described as "cleared" and "passable" with "signage in place".
A spokesperson for Monaghan County Council told Northern Sound "Thankfully, there have been no reports of any major storm related damage following storm Debi, however, Monaghan County Council advise people to exercise caution as there may be some debris remaining on our roads. Monaghan County Council’s Municipal districts teams have been working from early morning to assess the damage caused by the storm Debi and have cleared most roads of fallen trees, branches, and other debris. There was strong cooperation from members of the public, who notified Monaghan County Council of issues."
