Public representatives in Cavan have called on the Minister for Panning to introduce legislation to allow those impacted by "flawed decisions" regarding An Bord Pleanala to take judicial review proceedings.
The calls were made on foot of a notice of Motion by Cllr Sarah O'Reilly who pointed to the investigations being carried out on the planning authority by An Garda Siochana.
She highlighted how those judicial review proceedings should not be subjected to time constraints - as set out by the High Court - given the concerns that have emerged around a number of local developments given the green light by An Bord Pleanala.
Cllr O'Reilly said her focus was on telecommunication structures, masts and monopoles within Co Cavan.
She said that if any improprieties were discovered following the Garda investigation, it would be only right and just that campaign groups and individuals who dedicated so much time and energy to the cause could request a judicial review of their case at that point.
Members subsequently agreed to write to Minister Darragh O'Brien about the matter.
