Many women are being forced to leave Ireland to seek treatment for endometriosis. That's according to Cllr Patricia Walsh who supported a motion by Cllr Aine Smith that called on clinical treatments for the illness to be brought on stream here.
The discussion arose during a recent meeting of Cavan County Council and Cllr Walsh highlighted how it's a disease that is very difficult to diagnose. She pointed out that very little is known about endometriosis and many women suffer from serious side-affects while ill.
Cllr Walsh added that many women have to go overseas for treatment while others are living with the disease having received no diagnosis at all.
