Local councillors have asked "what is the story" with a Carrickmacross factory that "has been lying idle for two and a half years".
PJ O'Hanlon passed a motion at the most recent Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD seeking that a letter be sent to Newbaze Ireland and local Minister Heather Humphreys to enquire when it would open.
Minister Humphreys officially opened the Carrickmacross factory in November of 2019, around four months before the on-set of the covid-pandemic.
It was thought that the factory would create around 60 jobs.
While Councillor O'Hanlon acknowledged Newbaze is a "private enterprise", he also noted that it was opened by government representatives.
He says the letter will issue an invite to the factory's owners, adding that he doesn't "want to quiz them" but wants to "hear their plans and let them know that the MD will work with them".
