A Monaghan councillor has voiced his concerns in relation to what he described as the "worsening situation" of A&E services across the region.
Cllr Paudge Connelly's comments follow the publication of a HIQA report on the National Health Service earlier this week.
In its detailed report, HIQA called for better leadership at local, regional and national level in Irish hospitals.
Cllr Connolly has called for improved monitoring of patient safety in relation to the risks associated overcrowding and patients not being seen.
