Plans to erect a memorial to a Cavan businessman are to be proposed at an upcoming council meeting.
Councillor TP O'Reilly plans to discuss the possibility of paying tribute to "prominent businessman" and "innovator" Con Smith who died tragically in the Staines Air Disaster in 1972.
The late Con Smith led a delegation of 12 businessmen to Brussels for instruction to the European Union.
However, the flight from London Heathrow to Brussels crashed soon after take-off, killing all 118 people on board.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Reilly revealed that a sculpture of 12 birds is to be unveiled in Brussels to represent the 12 businessmen who died, and hopes Cavan could do something in conjunction with this.
He added that at the time his death, Mr Smith employed around 1,500 people and that his death had a "lasting impact" on the people of Cavan.
