Investment is badly needed in the border region.
That's according to Cllr Pat Treanor who was speaking in the aftermath of an announcement that the construction of a new building at Gaelscoil Eois in Clones was being put on hold due to financial pressures in the Department of Education.
He says the building must go ahead because the school needs additional supports and should not be ignored.
Cllr Treanor said that for far too long, investment in the border region has been thin on the ground.
He added that while urbanised centres were thriving, rural communities along the border had to fight for everything they needed and "enough is enough".
"If you look at all of the infrastructure throughout the island, you will always find that the border region and the north fails every time. It's always the target for withdrawls and for the slowing down of expenditure. "Enough is enough; we are angry and fed up with the decisions that are being made. In this instance, the building at Scoil Eois must start," said Cllr Treanor
