Fire crews and the local community have been praised for their response to a gorse fire near Virginia last night.
The fire broke out on Bruise Hill near Maghera yesterday evening.
Fire Brigades from Ballyjamesduff and Virginia, Civil Defence teams and local farmers worked together to prevent the fire spreading further and impacting on nearby buildings.

Farmers used slurry tanks of water to douse the area around the fire to prevent it spreading further.
No one was injured in the fire but a significant land area was burned and local wildlife is believed to be severely impacted.
