A local councillor brought a motion to the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council in relation to affordable housing.
Cllr Aine Smith called on the local authority to offer a scheme that allowed people access affordable housing in Cavan.
In response to her motion, Cavan County Council said that they were actively considering the provision of affordable housing in the county over the coming years, under the 'Housing for All' Plan and currently a survey is underway to determine the need for such housing across the county.
The information gathered will be used to inform the council of the level of demand and locations for affordable houses and in turn for them to be in a position to offer an affordable housing scheme to people locally. First Time Buyers' or 'Fresh Start Applicants' are invited to complete the survey which has been extended until the 20th of December.
Cllr Aine Smith says the hope would be that when the information is gathered the scheme will be offered to people living locally.
