Sinn Féin councillor Stiofán Conaty has called on Cavan County Council to increase investment in Redhills village.
In a motion submitted at a recent meeting of the Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District, Cllr Conaty highlighted the need for upgrades to infrastructure in the village, such as footpaths, street lighting and speed ramps.
Referencing recent works carried out in neighbouring Ballyhaise, Cllr Conaty said that "Redhills now needs similar attention".
Cllr Conaty said there are a number of infrastructure issues which need to be tackled, in particular the footpaths.
He said in a space which is so welcoming to children and families, with the green and the playground, the area could also do with better street lighting and speed calming measures.
Paying tribute to local initiatives such as the Tidy Towns committee, Cllr Conaty said that Redhills is among the best kept villages in Cavan and that "a lot of credit is due to those volunteers who make that happen.
