A local Consultant has appealed for people to take care on the roads in a bid to reduce the number of hospital admissions.
Hospitals across the country have come under pressure due to the recent increase in Covid-19 cases.
Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Cavan General Mr Ashraf Butt has appealed for people to slow down and not to drink and drive this winter.
He says hospitals have faced "extreme pressures" due to the high number of cases locally, with Cavan Hospital having the highest number of Covid positive patients in the country for a number of weeks.
The number of cases in Cavan and Monaghan has reduced in recent weeks and both counties now have incidence rates below the national average.
