Residents in a town centre estate in Bailieboro are up in arms over construction works that were carried out last week on a proposed new 5G telecommunications mast.
The concrete slab that went in for the base for the new mast in the Pine Grove estate is situated less than 20 yards for nearby homes.
A planning enforcement officer attended the scene and according to local resident Kevin Carolan works are now at a standstill. He believes the next move from Eir is a crane to arrive with a 60ft pole which he say locals will not stand for.
The local man says no communication or any contact has come from Eir and this is fuelling concern within the local community. Kevin says planning exemptions or not, he says 'people power' won't allow this to happen.
