A number of clubs from the Northern Region have emerged as winners in this year's Texaco Support for Sport initiative.
Ballyjamesduff Athletic Football Club was chosen as winners of the Cavan County award.
The club was awarded 5,000 to help expand its facilities to meet the demand of its growing membership numbers.
Founded in 1989, Ballyjamesduff Athletic Football Club has been serving the soccer community in its surrounding areas for 35 years and provides for teams of all ages from 5-19 year olds.
Elsewhere, Clones Town Football Club also received 5,000 euro to help fund a summer football tournament which included equipment, venue rental, match official costs, medical support, trophies and medals.
An FAI 'Club Mark One Star' award recipient, Clones Town FC was founded in 1878 and incorporated into the league structures in 1885. Competing in the Monaghan/Cavan league, it plays its home matches in Carn, which, at 85m above sea level, is widely regarded as the highest football ground in Ireland.
Now in its fourth year, the Texaco Support for Sport initiative - organised by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited, the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand - sees a fund of EUR130,000 set aside annually for allocation in equal amounts of EUR5,000 to successful applicants chosen on a county-by-county basis. Previous Monaghan winners were Ballybay Pearse Bros. GAA Club (2021), Castleblaney's Latton O'Rahilly GAA Club (2022) and Carrickmacross Emmets GAA Club (2023).
