More parking spaces are needed to relieve pressure in housing estates.
That's according to Cavan County Council Noel Connell who brought a motion to the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council on the issue.
He called on the local authority to develop more parking spaces in council owned estates to alleviate traffic congestion.
The Sinn Fein Councillor said there is also a very important safety issue in relation to making sure access can be maintained for emergency service crews when entering housing developments also. Cllr Connell said most houses have two or three cars but only the space for one and in turn is creating for a bottleneck scenario.
Other councillors gathered agreed with the motion with Cllr Brendan Fay saying it should include all housing estates. Cllr Connell says in certain cases further houses have been constructed within older estates and has caused major traffic problems due to the lack of parking.
