A local childcare provider says it's time the Government acknowledges that investment in the sector is needed.
Today Early Childhood Ireland presented their pre-budget submission and recommendations emphasising the need for better pay and conditions for staff.
Paula Donohoe, who runs Clever Clogs in Ballyconnell, says that Ireland is still has one of the lowest funded childcare sectors in Europe and more funding is needed to achieve international recommendations.
She says that as an employer staff retention remains a huge issue, as well as the cost of services for parents and it's time to 'bridge the gap':
