A local councillor is calling on the Irish Government to immediately halt the illegal transport of weapons to the Israeli Defence Forces through Irish airspace. Cllr Stiofan Conaty said these calls are on the back of the similarity to their inaction on the Occupied Territories Bill, for which Sinn Féin offered their own Dáil speaking time in order to pass, the outgoing government did not do the right thing here.
The Co Cavan Councillor said they have allowed dozens of flights to cross over sovereign Irish airspace which they know full well to be loaded to the hilt with US guns, bombs and missiles, on route to Israel, where they will be brought across to Gaza to aid in the illegal occupation of Palestine. Cllr Conaty said these weapons are now being turned on our own soldiers, as Israel threatens Irish-led UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon. In other words, this government is allowing the transport through Ireland of the weapons which are now being turned on Irish citizens. He said this needs to stop, immediately:
