The Minister for Transport told Northern Sound the only solution to the traffic congestion on the N3 is "park and ride facilities". Deputy Eamon Ryan was speaking following a meeting with a selection of local councillors recently.
The meeting was an opportunity for local representatives to bring to the minister's attention the issues that matter to the region. For around a decade now, Cavan people have been calling for park n ride facilities on parts of the N3 leading up to the motorway.
Local representatives warned that the present situation with cars parking on the side of the road and bus stops is "an accident waiting to happen". When Eamon Ryan came to the Northern Sound studios he was asked about upgrades to the N2, the north-south interconnector and park n ride facilities on the N3. Acknowledging he's a Dublin TD, Deputy Ryan said he had previously worked on the widening of the M50 project and said "we've done the max that can be done there" and suggested the only answer is park and ride facilities and better public transport.
