The longer roads are allowed to deteriorate for, the bigger the bill for local authorities.
That's according to Cavan-Monaghan TD, Brendan Smith, who recently raised the need for more investment in local roads to the Minister for Transport. The local politician noted that 96% of the road network in Cavan are local and regional roads.
