A local councillor has raised the very serious road safety issue of people not wearing a Hi-Vis when out walking or cycling. Cllr Damien Brady raised the issue at this week's Cavan County Council meeting. He called on the council to write to the RSA and the Department of Transport in an effort to enforce the compulsory wearing of Hi-Vis vests.
Cllr Brady said that a societal change needs to happen so that people taking to the roads, either walking, cycling or on an e-scooter that they must wear the Hi-Vis clothing. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Brady says that by simply putting on a High-Vis, it could save a family from losing a loved one.
