The internet has become a fabric of society of growing up in Ireland according to a local youth worker.
Today is Safer Internet Day, and to mark the day and Northern Sound has been hearing from Caolan Faux who is the Director of Youth Work Ireland for Cavan and Monaghan. He has been telling us about the issues that relate to accessing the internet for the younger people of this region.
Caolan says the internet is so pervasive in society, it's so normal adding that it so widespread, it's as common for young people as eating food. The local man says where people are not empowered and educated around the safe use of this huge data set that's available to them, then it has the potential to be used in a harmful way. Caolan says the internet is all about constant access and a constant exposure meaning safeguards and education is very much key to using the internet in a safe and positive manner.
