Local businesses are being encouraged to find ways to facilitate outdoor dining to avail of the new Government Scheme.
Yesterday details were announced of The Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme which will provide funding for individual tourism and hospitality businesses to develop their own outdoor seating capacity and funding for Local Authorities to develop permanent outdoor public dining spaces in towns and urban centres.
Director of regional development with Fáilte Ireland Paul Keeley says that while they acknowledge this will not solve everything for businesses in the region, it is hoped that it will relieve some of the financial strain.
However, when questioned on what supports were available for businesses without outdoor dining capacity Mr.Keeley stated the focus of the scheme was on the town centre developments:
