Beef, pork and mushroom farmers in Cavan and Monaghan could be hardest hit by tariffs if a Brexit deal isn’t made.

Macra na Feirme President Thomas Duffy said the Department of Agriculture’s proposed €400 million support in a no-deal scenario is less than half of the potential impact a lack of a trade deal could have on the agriculture sector.

Government sources have suggested that even if a deal is reached, farmer supports would still be rolled out.
