The doors of five Bank of Ireland branches in Cavan and Monaghan will close for the final time later today.
In Cavan these are Kingscourt, Cootehill and Arva, while Castleblayney and Clones are to shut in Monaghan.
The closures were announced back in March but come into effect at the end of business today.
Bank of Ireland says the 88 branches which are closing in the Republic today have seen a 60 per cent reduction in footfall since 2017.
Eamon McCaughey is a businessman located across from the Bank of Ireland in Clones, and beside the former Ulster Bank building, which closed in 2015.
He says the older generation in the town will be worst hit.
