A dog that has been a stray in Monaghan Town for up to five years has continued to evade capture despite the best efforts of the local dog warden. Over a number of years the dog that has been nicknamed Henry has roamed the streets of Monaghan Town and caused an nuisance to a number of residents.
Residents in the Manorwood housing estate in the town centre have experienced acts of aggression from the lurcher according to local Councillor Sean Conlon. He says it’s not only people living in Manorwood that is affected by the stray lurcher roaming the streets. The dog warden is appealing to anyone who may have seen Henry to contact them at 042-9661240.
Despite numerous attempts by the Dog Warden to catch him. Cllr Conlon says Henry has always eluded the authorities. "They're having a couple of very creative approaches in capturing the dog," Cllr Conlon explained.
"The nature of a lurcher, it's like a greyhound, it can sprint like lightening when evading capture. There's other areas where this dog has created a bit of havoc, we are imploring at every opportunity for our local authority to avail of any mechanism that might capture this dog and put this issue to rest once and for all."
