Local councils have paid out nearly 150 million euro in the past 5 years, on compensation for people claiming to be injured on damaged footpaths.
New figures show nearly 10 thousand claims have been made since 2017, equating to about 5 people per day.
At a local level, counties Cavan and Monaghan had some of the lowest number of claims recorded.
In Monaghan, a total of 42 claims for trips and falls from 2017 to June 2022 were made, with Monaghan County Council paying out over €943,000 euro in personal injury claims.
Meanwhile, a total of 54 claims for trips and falls from the same period were made in County Council, with the local authority paying out over 2 million euro in personal injury claims.
Elsewhere, Dublin, Tipperary, Limerick and Waterford have the highest rates of claims per 100 thousand people.
In Dublin, four of the capital's councils have paid out just over 66 million euro between them.
