There are three electoral areas in Monaghan; Ballybay-Clones LEA, Carrickmacross-Castleblayney LEA and Monaghan LEA. There are five seats available in Ballybay-Clones LEA and six seats in Carrickmacross-Castleblayney LEA. Whereas, Monaghan LEA has seven seats.
