Paul Lynch, the chairperson of the Cavan Tidy towns group says the news for Cavan is disappointing but he sees it as a challenge.

Chair of Monaghan Tidy Towns, Eimear Brennan, told Shannonside Northern Sound that there is "a marked improvement".

This year almost 60 Cavan groups and 50 groups in Monaghan registered to take part.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to join in.

This signals fantastic progression and achievement.

People are asked to attend from 11am tomorrow morning.
