A fundraiser has been launched to safeguard the future of a local community centre.
There were fears in Newbliss in Monaghan that the Acorn Centre in the village would have to close because of the financial hit it has taken because of the Covid lockdown.
However, the community has launched a Go Fund Me page to raise funds for its upkeep.
The fund has already surpassed the original goal of €7,500.
Committee member Martina Durkan says they're overwhelmed with the support and it has really created a sense of community for everyone in the midst of the uncertainty.
