The comprehensive list of who is running in the local elections in Cavan and Monaghan has just been released. The county councils of Cavan and Monaghan officially announced the names of those standing for election in the Northern Sound region on June 7th.
In the Monaghan Ballybay-Clones electoral area nine candidates - including three women - have put their names forward for election. There are 11 candidates for six seats in Carrickmacrosss-Castleblayney including representatives from the Green and Aontú parties. Meanwhile, 16 hopefuls will battle it out for seven-seat Monaghan Town electoral area including five non-party candidates and a migrant candidate standing for the Green Party there.
In Cavan, three non-party candidates ask for you vote in the Bailieborough-Cootehill municipal district along with a new Sinn Féin hopeful. 11 people including a software technician, social worker, haulier, and farmers are running in Ballyjamesduff for parties including the Irish People and Irish Freedom Party. And, in Cavan-Belturbet, representatives for the Labour and Green parties stand against 10 other opponents including migrant and female candidates.
Meanwhile, voters are reminded that the deadline to register to vote or make an amendment to your existing voter registration is 11:59pm tonight. The full list of candidates is available to view on cavancoco.ie and monaghan.ie.
