Lidl has been given approval to replace its supermarket in Castleblayney.
The German retailer had applied to demolish the existing store and replace it with a new larger building.
Lidl has been based on the Monaghan Road in Castleblayney since 2006.
It applied in April to demolish its current 1,600 square metre supermarket and replace it with one with a 2,300 square metre area.
The plans also include the reconfiguration of the current site layout, with car parking and a relocated entrance into the site.
Monaghan County Council has granted approval for the project, subject to 25 conditions.
These include conditions around road safety, the construction process and water runoff.
