LGBTI+ community locally enduring regular homophobic abuse

Sharon who is a volunteer with CAMRY says the service which has three locations locally.

Local younger people from the LGBTI+ community are enduring homophobic abuse across the region.

That's according to a local LGBTI+ Youth Support service that operates in Cavan and Monaghan.

Cavan & Monaghan Rainbow Youth also known as CAMRY offers a service to teenagers from 12 to 18 and for young adults between 18 and 24

Sharon who is a volunteer with CAMRY says the service which has three locations in Monaghan Town. Cavan Town and Castleblayney offers a safe space for these young people. She says some of the group members have endured abuse on the streets or in their school over being gay and she said it continues to this very day.
